PROJECT Visual Identity DESIGN Concept / Communication Materials / Campaigns / Signage / Exhibitions / Website / Social Media CLIENT Museum Folkwang, Essen / Germany

Presence for the museum. Space for the art.

In 2019, Naroska developed a new visual identity for Museum Folkwang. The starting point was the existing wordmark, cast into the concrete façade and firmly integrated into the architecture.

Around it, a flexible design system was developed that responds to the image. Where an image needs to remain fully visible, the exhibition title is partially cropped behind it. Full-bleed images remain largely free of graphic elements. In this way, the museum gains a clear identity while allowing the art itself room to breathe.

This design principle runs throughout the entire visual identity, from posters to signage, from invitation cards to digital applications.
