Pool Gallery—Harf Zimmermann
The EMOP—European Month of Photography is the largest German festival for photography. It is part of an European project with photo-festivals in Bratislava, Budapest, Ljubljana, Luxembourg, Paris, Athens, Moscow, Rome and Vienna. Since 2004, it has been taking place every two years in Berlin, presenting a wide range of exhibitions and events on historic and contemporary photography. The festival is organized by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH in collaboration with museums, cultural institutions, galleries, embassies, project spaces, and photography schools in Berlin and Potsdam.
This year the EMOP—Berlin opened for the first time with the Opening Days. A four-day photography festival with lectures and discussions, presentations, workshops and the Book Days, an international fair for young publishers of photography books curated by C/O Berlin. In the evening the program was completed by music acts. The festival took place in the Amerika Haus at C/O Berlin, the Museum for Photography and the Helmut Newton Foundation. Naroska developed the appearance for the EMOP—European Month of Photography. The first application was the festival in Berlin and the Opening Days. In addition to invitation cards, program guides, posters and catalog titles, a signage system was designed to identify the venues and routes to them.
